Had an old fellowes brand crosscut shredder (Powershred 55CC) that finally gave up the ghost; it cut 5/32" x 4/5" (3.9mm x 20mm) shred. Fellowes (and others) crosscut shredders are shredding at 5/32" x 2"; that's a strip that is over twice as long as it used to be. I seriously recommend as a minimum cut size 3.9mm x 20mm or smaller; that means you have to go to a micro-cut shredder. Most microcuts I saw shopping around were $100 - $180 price starting.

This is the least expensive micro-cut shredder on the market.
It does a fantastic job with shredding.
I have put staples through it without issues, and it does have problems with more than 5 sheets at a time (or thicker paper), which is something you accept for the price. I would not recommend CDs, paperclips, or credit cards through this shredder (as it wasn't made for them).

Highly Recommended! This is a suprisingly well made shredder for the price. It only cuts paper, but into extremely small pieces and completely unreadable - smaller than confetti / cross cut. Must have if you are extremely concern about identity theft.
