"If you believe it's time to put principles above parties, character above campaign promises, and Common Sense above all -- then I ask you to read this book...."

In any era, great Americans inspire us to reach our full potential. They know with conviction what they believe within themselves. They understand that all actions have consequences. And they find commonsense solutions to the nation's problems.

One such American, Thomas Paine, was an ordinary man who changed the course of history by penning Common Sense, the concise 1776 masterpiece in which, through extraordinarily straightforward and indisputable arguments, he encouraged his fellow citizens to take control of America's future -- and, ultimately, her freedom.

Nearly two and a half centuries later, those very freedoms once again hang in the balance. And now, Glenn Beck revisits Paine's powerful treatise with one purpose: to galvanize Americans to see past government's easy solutions, two-part monopoly, and illogical methods and take back our great country........

Instead of listening to anyone else, Glenn educated himself on the history of our country and how our founders created America. He has brilliantly outlined the problems with our entire government (this is NOT a partisan book). Both of our political parties have created a huge mess, and this is the best description of that mess I've ever seen.

And the solution was created over 200 years ago by our founders. We have just drifted away...far away...from the original plan. If this book......

While Beck is no Paine, the book was very good, well written, well researched, and very thought provoking. Beck does an excellent job at identifying both Democrats and Republicans as the source of problems (or rather, the source of bad solutions) in our country. The book makes a very good case and provides evidence of the blatant disregard for our constitution by our past as well as more recent and present leaders.

My only criticism, is that I wish the book had more content, deeper......

The latest media nugget from author, TV, radio and stage star Glenn Beck is easy to recommend, but with a caveat or two. First of all, if you listen to his radio program or watch his Fox News show, you've probably already got an idea of his shtick. He's an extremely likeable, self-deprecating goofball who has no pretentions to ivory-tower intellectualism. Behind his overtly entertaining persona, however, is a guy who might be one of the biggest doom-and-gloomers when it comes to his vision of th......

Glenn Beck has written an enlightening tome asking for the people to hold our elected officials responsible for their actions. Mr. Beck is not a raving lunatic - although he plays one on the radio - but a funny, sarcastic voice crying out to the masses.

Read this book, Mr. Beck tells us on his radio show, and then pass it onto others.

Beck seems sincere and well-intentioned. He is neither a party hack nor _only_ out for a buck. The wildly out-of-proportion success of this book testifies to the disenfranchisement felt by many Americans that Beck refers to so often. As an author, or co-author, he may be passionate, but his effort is weak. I don't see the connection between his part of the volume and Paines'.
